My favorite brand is Yuban and that is what I primarily use in this machine. We have been using this coffee maker daily for almost a month now, so I feel like I can write a pretty good review about how it functions. Things I love: 1. The coffee is hot right after brewing and stays hot. The last machine we had was a Delonghi and the coffee was never really hot. 2. It is fast, even when using the "strong" setting. I can brew an 8 cup pot within less than 5 minutes. Again, our last coffee maker took at least 15 minutes and the coffee was not as good. 3. The coffee tastes great 4. The dispenser works as it should. After programing to fit the cup, it will consistently dispense that amount each time. 5. The clock and programs are super easy to set. The last machine I had took forever. Everytime it was accidently unplugged or the breaker was tripped I would have to stand holding the button down through an entire 24 hour cycle to get back to 5:20 AM. Really frustrating!! 6. This is a really nice coffee maker with a lot of really great features. In fact, I would say that everything from the the push button programmable volume dispensing to the keep warm timer to the dual programable on timers all work great. I have two small complaints. The first is cosmetic and sort of function. The adjustable tray is sort of useless and having to put holes up the machine to accommodate the heights takes away from the nice clean look of the machine. Whether you put a tall travel cup or a short 6 oz coffee cup on the tray the coffee comes out straight down. It does not sometimes shoot out the sides. You are not going to miss your cup. The second thing that could use improvement is filling the water reservoir. You fill it at the back corners of the opened lid and I feel the space is somewhat small on either side making it a bit precarious when pouring water in to make sure you don't spill either outside of the machine or in to the coffee pot. Along with this is that there is not a sight glass that shows the actual level of water in the reservoir. Instead they have this top sight squares that darken with every two cups of water that is poured in. The boxes don't change at all between the even number cups. For instance, once you get to 4 cups the box darkens but doesn't change again until you get to 6 cups so you may have any amount between 4-6 cups and not really know. The alternative is to use the coffee canister inside to measure and pour the water but, handling this is somewhat clumsy. Of course you can use a separate measuring cup until you get adept at knowing exactly when to stop filling or just always make an even number of cups of coffee. This really isn't that big of a deal but does seem like it would have been real easy for them to put a sight line on the outside of the machine to see water level. Other than that, this is a really nice machine and have been very happy with it. Most importantly it makes a pretty decent cup of coffee.
